The Bridges of SBI Three Bridge
The three bridges that riders encounter on the SBI Three Bridge Tour can be daunting, but once riders reach the apex, you'll be provided beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean as you cross the Intercoastal Waterway to and from each island.
Each bridge reaches 65 ft. high - and that's not a coincidence. The United States Coast Guard requires a minimum 65 feet of clearance above the mean water level along the Intercoastal Waterway.

A brief history of Sunset Bridge
The namesake of the Mannon C. Gore bridge purchased what was then known as Bald Beach in the 1950s. Gore was impressed by the beautiful sunsets and renamed the island Sunset Beach. Mr. Gore designed and installed the pontoon swing bridge that was eventually replaced by the current bridge our riders scale on their way to and from Sunset Beach - the first bridge each distance will conquer!

A brief history of Ocean Isle Beach Bridge
The second bridge that riders will face - the Odell Williamson Bridge - connects the mainland to OIB. Wiliamson was an early developer of the island and the first mayor of Ocean Isle Beach after the community incorporated in 1959.

A brief history of Holden Beach Bridge
The third and final bridge riders will face connects mainland Shallotte with Holden Beach. To reach the required vertical clearance over the main channel at Holden Beach, the bridge had to turn to allow enough room to tie it to the elevation on the island. A unique "twist" for our riders!
